A rural district covering boroughs and townships in Columbia and Luzerne counties, the district is on a mission to develop students through rigorous educational and co-curricular programs into critical, reflective thinkers with the knowledge and skills to communicate effectively, to integrate technology for learning, and to contribute to an ever-changing, diverse community. The district seeks an ethical, leader with:    
 

  • Successful educational leadership experience as evidenced by leading improvements in academic programming, instructional leadership, and instructional practices;
  • Community engagement and partnership building skills;  
  • An ability to lead and effectively supervise the district’s leadership team in order to impact the educational experience of all students; 
  • The budget and finance experience necessary to oversee the work of the budget office;  
  • Clear, consistent, and transparent communication skills that keeps all stakeholders well informed of district issues; 
  • Promote a positive school climate and safe environment that ensures the physical, social and emotional well-being of students and staff;

West Allegheny School District is currently seeking a High School Assistant Principal.  The successful candidate will be a dynamic instructional leader, have evidence of being a highly effective teacher, demonstrate an equity-focused mindset, have exemplary communication and relationship-building skills, possess knowledge of research-based best educational practices, have the ability to organize and analyze data to inform recommendations and actions, enforce the Code of Conduct, promote positive student attendance, support students with making academic, attendance, and behavioral improvements as needed, have the ability to multi-task at a high level, have experience with PBIS and MTSS, and possess exceptional technology skills. 

West Allegheny School District serves approximately 3,400 students (K-12) with 1,040 enrolled in West Allegheny High School (grades 9-12) and 40 students enrolled in our high school-facilitated preschool program. Located in Imperial, Pennsylvania, the District claims the largest geographic footprint in Allegheny County covering 60 square miles. Although geographically expansive, the community is unified by its proud tradition of academic, arts, and athletic excellence. This common thread is demonstrated through unwavering staff and community support for its students. WAHS draws from growing socio-economically diverse residential communities. West Allegheny High School is rooted in tradition and excellence, offering many avenues for students to excel in academics, arts, and athletics, boasting an unprecedented 20 Early College in High School programs in affiliation with CCAC, CCBC, Robert Morris University, Seton Hill University (beginning in 2025-26) and Rosedale Technical College.  Our high school offers 203 credits available through concurrent enrollment and over 400 credits through dual enrollment, accounting for over 600 college credits available to students, and a wealth of industry-based credentials. These opportunities form our hallmark Early College In High School Academy (ECIHSA), with nearly 75% of our juniors and seniors, and over 60% of our freshmen and sophomores, engaging in courses eligible for college credit. ECIHSA was designed to remove financial and accessibility barriers for students. Offering college level courses in high school provides students the opportunity to earn certificates, associate degrees, and significant credits toward bachelor’s degrees by the time they graduate. As well, West Allegheny High School is an approved AP Capstone Diploma school offering 23 Advanced Placement courses with nearly 50% of our juniors and seniors taking at least one AP course.  Students also can participate in the U.S. Marine Corps Junior Reserve Officers’ Training Corps.  Each of these programs is aligned to one of our six defined Career and College Pathways aligned to Pennsylvania’s 16 Career Clusters. Our ACCELERATE (Advancing Career Connections through Experiential Learning and Exposure to Real-world Application, Training, and Exploration) program engages students in career exploration aligned to their Career and College Pathway, with the goal of every student graduating with a viable postsecondary plan. West Allegheny strives to support students in a personalized exploration of career interests and to connect them to viable careers or postsecondary programs through information session, interactive presentations, immersive experiences, career treks, career mentoring, and authentic work experiences including paid internships. This school year, 49 students are participating in a paid internship aligned to their Career and College Pathway, including 32 internal and 17 external. We also have 47 students who are engaging in unpaid internships.  In total, our high school offers 158 in person courses, 117 virtual courses, 15 student clubs, over 50 career exposure events annually, and 15 athletic programs with over 55 athletic schedules from grades 7-12.  

The High School Assistant Principal position is a 12-month, full-time, permanent administrative position with a start date on or before July 1, 2025.  K-12 Principal certification is required.  Master’s degree or equivalent is required.  High school administrative experience is strongly preferred. Competitive salary is negotiable based on expertise, experience, education, and qualifications.

Wyoming Valley West School District (approx. 5,000 students; six schools) is located in Luzerne County, Pennsylvania. The district serves residents in nine communities in the heart of NEPA (Northeastern PA).     • Knowledgeable on curriculum, instruction, and assessment measures, and ability to align those to the evolving needs of the students of Wyoming Valley West;

  • Budgetary and financial management abilities to oversee maximization of efficiencies without compromising programmatic or operational quality
    • Communication and engagement skills that emphasize accurate and timely information along with visibility and accessibility to all stakeholders
    •  Ability to hold others accountable for execution of key plans, programs and policies through an independent, objective approach to leadership;
  • The ability to deploy and support educational and operational technology
    • Team-building strategies that will acknowledge the skills of our highly professional staff through collaboration, mentoring, and instructional leadership;
    • Ability to advise the board as its chief strategic advisor, while effectively serving the board by faithfully carrying out programs, policies, and other directives;  
  • Skilled at navigating contractual issues, and understanding collective bargaining, while preserving educational, operational, and fiscal integrity
    • Decisive, yet consensus building in the process of making critical decisions to advance the strategic plans and vision for the district.
